To demonstrate the ChangeUnits for Excel add-in, here we set up a spreadsheet to convert a flow rate of 1.0 (cell A1) m^3/s (cell B1) to units of ft^3/min (cell B2).

setup

We start by putting the cursor in cell A2 and clicking the insert function button fx.  This brings up the Excel function dialog box.  Selec the "ChangeUnits" category and a list of the available functions is given.

insertDialog

Selecting the ChangeUnits function and clicking OK starts the ChangeUnits function wizard.

For the  "Val" option we enter the value to be converted (cell A1).  The input units (cell B1) are entered in the "InUnits" box.  And the units to convert to (cell B2) are entered in the "OutUnits" box.  Click OK and the converted value appears.

result

As with any Excel function, the conversion is automatically updated when the data changes.  For example, changing the units to convert to (cell B2) to "gal/hr" (gallons per hour), the updated conversion automatically appears in cell B1.
